Alter Ego Media is further expanding its presence in the Greek film industry and is pleased to announce its collaboration as co-producer with Filmiki Productions on the feature film “170 Square Meters.”

The film, whose shooting commenced today, is based on the highly successful stage play of the same title by Giorgis Tsouris. The play, for which the actor and playwright received the prestigious Horn Award, became a true theatrical phenomenon over the past decade, with more than 550 performances and over 130,000 spectators.

“170 Square Meters” is now being adapted for the big screen as a contemporary, high-production-value feature film starring Orestis Tziovas, Klelia Andriolatou, Anthi Efstratiadou and Giorgis Tsouris. The film is directed by Akis Polizos, while the screenplay is written by Giorgis Tsouris and Avrilios Karakostas.

The film is a dark comedy that captures, with remarkable immediacy, the complex universe of the Greek family, striking a unique balance between suspense, humor and stark realism.

The story unfolds in a small provincial town, where the death of a father brings two estranged sisters back under the same roof. An unexpected afternoon visit acts as the catalyst, forcing the story’s antiheroes to confront long-buried secrets and unexpected twists. These revelations compel them to face the truth in an emotionally charged family confrontation that raises a central question: How well do you really know the people closest to you?
